Katie Nunn Registered Osteopath, trained at the British School of Osteopathy from 1980-84 completing the four year diploma course.  I then worked alongside a Doctor in Wimpole Street, London W1, also a qualified Osteopath who specialised in Orthopaedic conditions.  I stayed at this practice for 5 years, and then set up my own clinic in Sutton in 1990 where I still practice today. I also work three mornings a week from Ingledale Therapy Centre in Oxted, a large multi discipline clinic.

What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment that lays emphasis on the structural and mechanical problems occurring in the body’s framework. Osteopathy is a manual therapy. It employs a variety of gentle techniques such as rhythmic movements to gently stretch a joint, soft tissue massage, manual traction and some manipulation which is a quick movement to the joint where sometimes you hear a “click”. This helps to restore the normal alignment and function of the joint.
Advice on lifestyle and exercises to aid recovery may also be given. If further diagnostic investigations are required these can be arranged for you.

Regulation

Osteopathy became fully regulated in 1993. Under the Osteopath Act, Osteopathy became the first complementary health care profession to be accorded statutory recognition.
The General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) is responsible for regulation of Osteopaths providing a high standard of practice and conduct.

My personal Osteopathic statement
My aim is to always provide a friendly professional service for my patients.  To view the whole body and consider the mechanical problems alongside lifestyles which together, can result in a breakdown of the body’s ability to cope resulting in injury.
